In 1993, Pat and Jerry Lewis as well as a few other partners developed the Golden Meadows subdivision. With the development of the subdivision, they were required to develop a water system to service the subdivision. Simultaneously, they also noticed a need for quality water for the Comeback Bay development area. Ultimately, the Lewis’ installed a 76,000-gallon reservoir and all the necessary infrastructure to service both Golden Meadows and Comeback Bay. By doing this, they had created Mountain Springs Water Corporation (MSWC), a first-class water system for the area. Over the last thirty years, the system continued to expand and now serves over 130 customers. With the current infrastructure, the system has the capacity to serve up to 220 connections.
In the beginning, the Lewis’ applied for and received all the necessary permitting and approval from the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality and MSWC continues to run as a non-profit organization today, governed by a board of directors. To attest to the quality of the MSWC water system, Jerry is proud to share some of the qualities that the water possesses. The normal pH of good drinking water is 7. MSWC constantly maintains a pH within 0.2% of 7. MSWC water does not require the addition of any chlorine or fluoride, just a minute amount of soda ash to maintain that constant pH. The system is gravity fed and supplies water at 70-75 PSI. This means that with reasonable conservation, the system can continue to run as normal for 2-3 days without electricity.
